My name is Sergiu Ciochina. I was born in the Republic of Moldova in 2001 and am now settled in Paris, France. At the age of 12, I started attending classes at a Fine Arts school for children in Nisporeni. It was here that a particular passion was born within me – the passion for expressing intense life through the shape of lines and colors. Every day, I experienced new things, felt unique conditions, and sought to leave my mark on canvases appreciated by those around me.
I attended courses at C.A.P. “Alexandru Plămădeală” in Chișinău, specializing in painting. It was a completely new environment for me, and the diversity of people and characters I encountered led to the formation of new ideas, habits, and lifestyles that contributed to my artistic development.
The stylization of figures is a consolation to me. What fascinates me the most is the energy I receive from exploring the subtlety of lines. A simple gesture, a thickening of the touch, can completely change the emotion of the character, whom I see as my own emotions, sometimes hidden even from me. Delving into their feelings and state, I rely on the aesthetics of the ugly, which has more unusual dimensions and shapes. I aim to satisfy the viewer with the rhythm and gesture from which a message or expression emerges. Through the deformation of nudes, I attempt to encourage a search for their spiritual beauty, which I often find in the people around me.
I invite you to look at every line and shade of color in my works and to feel those emotions that we sometimes lack the courage to acknowledge as being present within ourselves.
